2007 HSE Week: Managing Director Urges Staff, Contractors to Sustain HSE Standards 6-Dec-2007
In furtherance of its commitment to HSE (Health, Safety and Environment) culture, the company observed an HSE Week from Thursday, 6-Dec-2007 to Saturday, 8-Dec-2007. The theme of the event was, “HSE - Adding Value to Our Lives”. The programme organized by the HSE Division covered a number of events “articulated to increase HSE awareness and consciousness amongst Staff and Contractors”.
The events featured were vehicular safety checks at entry points, management tours of the sites, offices and bases; emergency preparedness at all locations, Seat Belt Convincer demonstration, HSE Exhibitions at the Port Harcourt Office base, Contractor HSE Forums, Drivers Forum, the HSE “Walk For Life”, Muster Drills and HSE Awards which was won by the Drilling and Completion Department for posting the highest number of anomaly reports while OML 102 won it for the site locations. Management took advantage of the tour to inspect and evaluate office structure, power unit, drainage system, security, access control, emergency system, entry into offices as well as interact with workers in the offices.
In his address to mark the week, the Managing Director / Chief Executive, Mr. Jacques Marraud des Grottes noted that Staff and Contractors have continued to work together to prevent work place injuries in EPNL and urged all to sustain the tempo in order to preserve our lives for our families. “I encourage everyone to imbibe the HSE culture and help to sustain the HSE Standards and Practices required in our activities. Good HSE practices do not slow down work pace at the work site, but accidents do with attendant losses in the form of injury to personnel, damage to the environment and company assets.” he said. The Managing Director / Chief Executive who was represented by the Deputy Managing Director, Corporate, Mr. Alek Musa; also enjoined Staff to take advantage of the Industrial Hygiene programmes and medical surveillance plans established for EPNL workforce health assurance.
The event was observed in all offices and locations.
