Barely three weeks after management’s Health, Safety and Environment (HSE) visit to Onne Base, the company‘s relentless commitment to HSE was on Thursday, 29-Nov-2007 extended to OML 99 with management giving deeper insight on the essence of the tour.

The tour was led by the Executive Director, External Affairs, Mr. John Addeh. He was accompanied by the Executive General Manager, Technical Services and Nigerian Content, Engr. Olubunmi Obembe; General Manager, Security, Mr. Suleiman Gimba; Manager, Environment, Mr. Suripno Suripno; and Manager, Stock Control, Mr. Festus Ediae.

The team was received on the Amenam site by the Manager, JV (Offshore) Asset Field Operations, Mr. Adewale Fayemi; and the Site Manager, Mr. Garcia Michel; who led them to the AMP 1, AMP 2, AMD1, AMD2 and AMQ, as well as other facilities after HSE briefings took place.

At an interactive meeting with the Staff, Mr. Addeh gave further insight into management HSE visits to remote sites, noting that “HSE Tours” were aptly named because in such environments, safety was of prime consideration.

“But it goes beyond safety”, he said explaining that it is a visit from Management in solidarity with them; to listen to their challenges, constraints and concerns whether they are technical or non technical. In summary, he said it was to ensure that they are “as safe as possible and as comfortable as possible.”

Also speaking, Mr. Obembe reiterated that the visit was to show that they are not alone, intimating them that management was concerned about their safety, security and well-being. “We are aware that you just came out of one trauma; the accident that happened last week. But we give thanks to God that it never escalated.” he said, in reference to the collision of a vessel with the Amenam Complex.

Responding on behalf of Staff, Production Supervisor, Mr. Mowhare Ekajeh; expressed delight and thanked management for the visit which they said was inspiring and served as a motivation.

Highlight of the visit was the presentation of the “HSE Man of the Month” Award to various recipients.
