DAUKORU, CHUKWUEKE VISIT TOTAL IN PARIS

Presidential Adviser on Petroleum and Energy, Dr. Edmund Daukoru and the newly appointed Director of the Department of Petroleum Resources, Mr. Tony Chukwueke on Friday, 10-Jun-2005 paid a visit to TOTAL's Corporate Headquarters in Paris. Their visit came on the heels of President Olusegun Obasanjo's recent tour of Total's facilities in France, climaxing with a visit to its technological base in Pau on 26-May-2005.

The two industry chiefs were treated to high level technical presentations on TOTAL's current activities in Nigeria, the Group's needs, challenges and its perspectives for the future. Other topics covered in the presentations were TOTAL's research and development cutting-edge capabilities in Integrated Basin Evaluation and emerging trends and concepts, high-pressure/high temperature operations, possible new frontiers and deep offshore geosciences and production techniques. An indication of its success in the deep offshore geosciences and production technology is the recognition gained by winning the 2003 OTC Innovation Award for its deep offshore activities in its Girassol field, Angola.

The full-day presentations were made by TOTAL experts and workers in various fields, both Nigerian and French nationals. Also in attendance were the chief executive of Total Upstream companies in Nigeria, Mr. Jacques Marraud des Grottes, Executive Director, Mr. Adekunle Alli and a geoscientist, Dr. Kingsley Ojoh.
