The management of the IBB International Golf & Country Club,  Abuja, last Saturday, 17-Nov-2007 showered accolades on Total for successfully hosting the 2007 edition of its annual golf tournament in Abuja. The Captain of the club, Mallam Gambo Hamza was so thrilled by the success of the event that he pleaded with the company to consider making Abuja the permanent venue for its annual tournament.

"We wish to plead with Total to make the tournament an annual event here at the IBB Golf Course, Abuja." Gambo said at a colourful awards night where over 25 outstanding golfers won major prizes.

In his response, the Managing Director, Mr. Jacques Marraud des Grottes promised that while Total's sponsorship of the annual golf tournament would be sustained on a regular basis, the company would consider the request to make it annual at the IBB Golf Course. Mr Marraud des Grottes expressed satisfaction with the high standards, hospitality and maturity with which the management of the IBB International Golf & Country Club handled the tournament.

"Our sponsorship shall be continuous and we shall also consider the request to make it an annual event here in Abuja," Mr. Marraud des Grottes told an elated audience at the awards cocktail.

This year's edition of the golf tournament kicked-off on Friday, 16-Nov- 2007 with a pre-tournament cocktail. The occasion afforded the participants the opportunity to interact before embarking on the gruelling task of the next day.
Participants started teeing off as early as 7:00am on Saturday, just as the blistering Abuja sun came into full view. The energy-sapping but exhilarating tournament had many golfers, male and female, enthusiastically participating.

The event attracted golfers from Lagos, Port Harcourt and Abuja including the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Ambassador Babagana Kingibe, former ministers and other top government officials and company executives. Others present at the event were directors and top managers of the company, including the DMD (Technical), Mr. Roger Poirier; DMD (Corporate), Mr. Alek Musa; ED (External Affairs), Mr. John Addeh; ED (Strategy, Business & NOA), Mr. Charles Ngoka; GM (Public Affairs), Mr. Pauly Enujuba; GM (Business Development), Mr. Chidi Momah among others.
