Oil & Gas Games End...Total Bags 17 Medals

Total's spirited performance at the just concluded 12th Edition of the Nigerian Oil & Gas Industry Games (NOGIG) was rewarded with a total of 17 medals – two gold, seven silver and eight bronze.

The medals were from victories in Lawn Tennis, Table Tennis, Swimming, Squash, Athletics, Snooker and Football. Both upstream and downstream employees of the Group in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) turned out en masse to support the football team as it took on the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) in a thrilling final played at the main bowl of the National Stadium, Abuja. NNPC won the encounter 2-0.

Reigning champions, Shell Petroleum Development Company (SPDC) retained their crown with 17 gold, eight silver and eight bronze medals. The company had won last year’s NOGIG Games when it bagged 12 gold, six silver and eight bronze medals.
NNPC were first runners-up with eight gold, nine silver and 13 bronze medals, while ExxonMobil Upstream Subsidiary Companies took the third position with six gold, six silver and 11 bronze medals.

Captain of the Total Team who expressed disappointment over the loss to NNPC in the football finals said, the team would re-strategise ahead of the 13th Edition of the Games next year.

Total provided all the customized medals awarded at this year’s edition of the Games.
