The Total Group has once again been commended for its yearly sponsorship of the Musical Society of Nigeria (MUSON) Concert. The commendation was made on Sunday, 4-Nov-2007, by the Chairman of the Board of Governors of MUSON, Chief Femi Adeniyi-Williams at the Total Group-sponsored MUSON Concert, which was the grand finale of this year's MUSON Festival.
Chief Adeniyi-Williams told the audience that the annual MUSON Concert has become synonymous with the Total Group. His words: "Without Total, there would be no Concert." He thanked the management of the Group for taking the initiative and wished the sponsorship be continued.
The MUSON Concert was held as the final event of the 2007 Edition of the MUSON Festival. In front of an audience made up of invited guests and music enthusiasts, the MUSON Festival Choir, conducted by Emeka Nwokedi as well as the MUSON Symphony Orchestra, directed by Theophilus Okang, in the first segment of songs for the evening, rendered "LOBGESANG (Hymn of Praise)" and "Opus 52" by Felix Mendelssohn.
The second stanza featured traditional music althrough. There were: "Isantim", "Nativity Song", "Orisa bi Ofun Kosi", "Monnase" and "Otengwo". Other songs were: "Ise Orin", "Abanije", "Ndawana" (a South African song transcribed by Oguchi Egbunine); "Bawa Thixo Samandla", (another South African song arranged by J.S.M. Khumalo) and "Jehova Emewo", which was the last song of the evening.
Each rendition was well applauded by members of the audience, which included the Managing Director / Executive, Mr. Jacques Marraud des Grottes and his wife; the General Manager, Public Affairs, Mr. Pauly Enujuba and his wife; as well as the Manager, Media & Corporate Affairs, Mr. Fred Ohwahwa.
