Nigerian Society of Engineers Commends Total

The company has received yet another commendation for its efforts in Nigerian Content Development, domestication of technology and development of Nigerian manpower for the oil and Gas industry. The President, Nigerian Society of Engineers (NSE), Mr. Kashim Ali, made the commendation on Friday, 23-May-2008 as he led a 20-man delegation of the body on a courtesy visit to the company.

They were received on behalf of the company by the Executive General Manager, Nigerian Content and Technical Services, Mr. Olubunmi Obembe. Others present were the General Manager, NDDC-EPNL Affairs, Mr. Anthony Abolarin and the General Manager, Health, Safety & Environment, Mr. Obi Iloanusi.

The NSE President and his team were happy with a brief on the company highlighting its strides in the area of Nigerian Content Development, technology transfer and Sustainable Development presented by Mr. Obembe.

Mr. Ali promised to do a letter to formally commend the company’s activities, particularly with regard to the setting up of the Institute of Petroleum Studies (IPS) and domestication of engineering programmes.

He said they were on a visit to thank Elf Petroleum Nig. Ltd. (EPNL) for its support to the society and related concerns of the institute as well as its effort to ensure that the engineering activities in the country do not fall short of the standards.

Responding, Mr. Obembe thanked them for the visit, explaining that the company will continue to see the NSE as a partner in furthering the goals of the country.

Also speaking, Mr. Iloanusi urged the NSE to sponsor a bill with a view to empowering the society with the power to monitor engineering projects and enhance the dignity of the engineering profession.
